Hello my lovely friends.

My 'Lizard' is not a scaly reptile, no, it is a place that sits right at the bottom of the United Kingdom, in a place called Cornwall.

If you look at the country from above, it looks a little bit like a witch with a cat, doesn't it?
And if you imagine that Cornwall is the witch's legs and feet, The Lizard is like the heel on her boot.

And shall I tell you a secret? Not many people know that Serpentine is magic!
At the edge of Lizard point, there are lots of craggy rocks of Serpentine. And on one of these craggy rocks is my house.

The Lizard was formed many millions of years ago after an explosion in the centre of the earth, which forced its crust up through the sea causing to settle on the edge of Cornwall, and become a special type of rock called, Serpentine.

People often ask me about my name. There are lots of lovely and interesting names around, aren't there? What's your name, I wonder. Let me guess... is it Ella... or Zac, Sophie... or Toby? Sometimes names mean something, like Holly for someone born at Christmas, or Poppy, after the flower.
Well, my name means something too. You see, many hundreds of years ago, thousands even, the people who lived on The Lizard were known as Celts. They had a very close connection with nature and learned as much as they could about how the world worked through the land, the sea and the sky. They also believed that the number three was very important as it represented lots of things in their lives. The Celts drew lots of special symbols which carried different meanings. They may be circles, or lines, or swirls, but there were always three of them. One of the most important symbols for the Cornish people was the Awen, which had three straight lines, and this is still used today in a special celebration of all things Cornish called, The Gorsedh. It symbolises many things to many people but it is notable for representing harmony and balance and peace, mind, body and spirit, earth, sea and sky, a source of creativity and inspiration, and knowledge, truth and love.
So, as my magic comes from the Cornish land, and as my knowledge of the land, sea and sky can help to to look after people in the water, my name had to be something that represents the ancient language and culture of Cornwall.

Look!
I even have an Awen on my wetsuit!
Magic Words
People also often ask me why my magic words are...
Well, I think you know why it is the power of three now, it is because of the ancient Celts and their belief in the number three.
In the Cornish language - "Mor" means sea, and "Dor" means land.
So, as I look after the people of the land, who get into the sea, my spells will only work if I use the Cornish words.
"Mordle Dordle, by the power of three..."
